Just felt its time to make one. More people need to know about me!

Whats up with the name? www.smalawi.com
As you can see my name is a bit long so kept it short.

What I can find here?
In this site you can find samples of my photography work from my early days till now.  My work is mainly with digital photography using my Nikon D70, however, I do have a passion for black & white film photography in which my Nikon FM2n come in handy.

Ho is I?
My name is Sayed Mahmood Alawi. I’m a process engineer, internet consultant and photographer. Bahraini by berth, flesh, blood even bone! Some people will add teeth as well, Go figure!

Current Location
I reside in the Kingdom of Bahrain, a small island in the middle of the Arabian / Persian Gulf and lovely place I call home. Recently, I found my self wondering to other places but there is nothing like home.

The photographer in me
I often wonder around places with my camera snapping shots mainly of nature scenery and old architecture. I do some portrait photography with  family and friends; however, they remain in my private collection and not for display.

I started photography in a very young age using my father’s camera. The once glorious but now retired canonet had served us well and left a legacy of fine memories on photographic paper. This camera was a very popular manual focus film viewfinder camera. He allowed me to use it form time to time and I grew attached to it.

Unfortunately, school and collage kept me quite busy and only after I finished collage that I had the chance to resume my hobby at the advent of the digital photography age. I started with a small Olympus point and shoot digital camera which a sample photo for sun raise can be seen in my photo gallery. This small and quite pretty camera revived my passion for photography but after a few moths of use I grow out of it. The camera was limited and I simply needed more control and better quality. Few moths later I purchased the Nikon D70, my first digital SLR camera and really fell in love with it. To start with, the camera felt really nice and quite responsive. Also, it’s a DSLR so it was more flexible and expandable. With all that being said, I still wanted to go back and use film again and preferably a manual focus camera, so I ended up buying a Nikon FM2n.

Too long! Yah!? You tell me I wrote all that ;-)

What’s with the questions?
Nothing!
